Esther Kyazike is a librarian by profession and the co-founder and CEO of Kawempe Youth Centre (KYC) Uganda which is located in Kawempe division, Kampala. KYC Uganda, which targets young people and schools, offers library services within the community and organizes educational and recreational activities. Passionate about libraries, children and youth work, I have over 18 years’ experience in library and youth work and in March 2012 joined the Uganda Library Campaigners which is part of the Electronic Information For Libraries (EIFL) - Africa Awareness Raising Group (AARG) to work together with the rest of the group to advocate for the development of Public and community libraries in Uganda. In addition I work to empower young people to improve their wellbeing. I am currently a board member of Uganda Community Libraries' Association and once served on the board of Uganda Youth Network and Y-Save SACCO. My professional goal is to change the face of libraries for quality education in Uganda.
